Optical methods for visuali-zation and manipulation of neural circuits-
from synapses to behavior
This course will cover a broad range of modern neuroscience methodology. In lectures and hands-on exercises, students will learn the basics of light-microscopy including fluorescence single- and two-photon imaging. Furthermore, the seminar will introduce advanced techniques to elucidate the function of neural circuits, such as optogenetics, virally-mediated neuroanatomical tracings and automated behavioral analysis.
